We were invited to attend the careers fair at St Ivo School in St Ives, Cambridgeshire to promote civil engineering as a career with around 1,000 students attending between year’s 8 to 13. The remote controlled model excavator and truck proved to be a hit with the students with our Ciara Cousins and Riley Howitt at the controls.
Our staff Kara Cattell and Summer Cooke visited Anna Bruce at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), The Treehouse in Suffolk to present a cheque amount of £2,836.54, which was raised in Breheny’s Annual Staff Christmas Raffle. A huge thank you to everyone that contributed, and to our suppliers that donated a prize.
Our Breheny teams have been out collecting Christmas Trees in the Peterborough area in aid of Sue Ryder who are raising money for the Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough. Kevin Sturgeon from our Rushbrooke Lane project in Bury St Edmunds visited Abbeycroft Leisure in the town to donate towards the Reducing Isolation with Food initiative for Christmas. Yesterday our Andy Newell and Leon Simpson-O’Regan attended the Rotherham Local Employment Advisory Forum (LEAF) careers event. We have been supporting this event since 2018 encouraging young people to consider a career in civil engineering and construction in support of the YORCivils3 Framework. We spoke to many students about construction and their routes to a career in the industry.
