PHIL CHAPMAN RETIRES
After nearly 42 years with company, at the age of 73, Phil Chapman, one of our most senior and experienced General Foreman, is hanging up his Hard Hat.
Starting as an operative, Phil quickly progressed to pipe layer, ganger, and foreman within the company. He’s undertaken a wide range of projects for Breheny over the years from road & sewers, S278, structures, river & sea defence works, earthworks and waste recycling facilities. Phil even had a spell on Breheny’s Waterboard contract several years ago.
Some of Phils best projects included the Replacement of a Victorian Spillway At Van Lake in Surrey, schemes at Chafford Hundred, Essex which included large earth retainment walls and filling old quarry tunnels, restoration of a historic sluice house at Mote Park, Maidstone and most recently our EA3 project in Ipswich.
To this day Phils proudest achievement was the construction of the Margate Harbour Flood defence scheme, which involved the stabilisation of the Harbour Arm and installation of nearly 500 16t -20t Precast concrete stepped revetment sections in 2010-2011. The project Team won an ICE award and local community award for the works they carried out.
Phil has helped numerous operatives and engineers to progress in their careers and Breheny has greatly benefited from the legacy Phil leaves behind. One of Phils best qualities is that he always had a solution for issues that occurred on site.
Thank you, Phil, for all your hard work over the decades. We hope you enjoy a happy and healthy retirement.
