Birchwood Primary School in Martlesham approached Robin Percy, Frameworks Manager at Breheny, asking for help with their OPAL scheme. Darren Alger, Regional Buyer, liaised with and received fantastic support from Burdens, Wolseley Group & Polypipe Civils.
OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) is a school improvement programme, focused on enhancing the quality of play in primary schools. It’s aim is to create an inclusive, engaging, and enriching provision to improve children’s well-being, social and emotional development, physical activity, and risk management skills through play. OPAL focuses on making long-term sustainable change using natural and man-made resources to inspire creativity and learning.
The tunnel will form part of the early stages in the development of our OPAL provision at Birchwood. The tunnel will be embedded in a mound to create an exploratory area for children to crawl and climb. It will join a sandpit, digging area, performance stage, mud kitchens, rewilding area, and water play zone.
Burdens and Wolseley Group helped to deliver a Polypipe Civils pipe for the schoolA big thumbs up to everyone involved!
