Stress Awareness Day

Stress Awareness Day takes place on the first Wednesday of November every year.  The theme for Stress Awareness Day this year is Little By Little, as set by the Stress Management Society.  This theme aims to highlight the importance of how making even the smallest of changes towards self care and stress reduction can have a huge impact on improving your mental health overtime. In the UK, 79% of adults experience stress at least once a month, with 74% feeling unable to cope at some point within the past year.  The most concerning trend is that there is still a stigma surrounding discussing stress and other mental health issues, with only 13% of employees feeling comfortable discussing their mental health openly at work.  This is something which we all need to work on improving so that more people feel comfortable discussing their mental health openly at work. Some of the little changes you can make, may include:
  • Connecting with someone
  • Prioritising sleep
  • Get moving
  • Spent time with nature
  • Deep breathing
  • Practice mindfulness
What little change are you going to make this Stress Awareness Day?
