Rushbrooke Lane Bridge, Bury St Edmunds

Works commenced in June for our Rushbrooke Lane Bridge project on behalf of our joint clients Denbury Homes and Hopkins Homes to link their St Edmunds Gate and Abbotts Vale developments in Bury St Edmunds.

We have completed the construction of a 10500m³ flood compensation basin to allow the construction of south embankment, followed by Haul roads and pile/Cranage platforms. We’ve then imported & placed a 6C drainage layer and installed & removed temporary Bailey Bridge Jansonbridging (UK) LTD over the River Lark to facilitate the construction of southern embankments using as raised class 2 material. Embankment is now under surcharge, with alluvium pore pressure monitoring being carried out by Harrison Group Environmental Ltd.

We reached our first major milestone last week with the installation of the Abutment piling north and south – 30m deep by 600mm diameter CFA piles installed by Cannon piling.

Next, on with the structure…..
