Coldharbour Roundabout, Aylesford

3rd December 2024 | 1 min read | admin

In November 2024, the Coldharbour Roundabout in Aylesford for Kent County Council was officially reopened, following a ten month project to increase the capacity and flows by enlarging the roundabout and adding additional lanes to improve the capacity.

Works included earthworks, drainage, road reconstruction including new street lighting, signs and road markings. The project required major traffic management due to its strategic position close to junction 5 of the M20 and as a major route into Maidstone and Aylesford. Breheny project staff worked closely with Kent Police to ensure emergency access was maintained to their Headquarters close to the roundabout.

We laid 8260 tonnes of asphalt, laid 1851 metres of kerbing, 1340 metres of drainage pipes, 17341 m3 of earthworks and 1182 metres of new lining and 28 new streetlights.
The works have been designed to improve traffic flows and safety using this busy roundabout linking Aylesford, Maidstone and the M20.
